I could hardly walk due to my knees, my muscles and my obesity. "My weight was 260 pounds when I first started my training. If you keep yourself active, you can do plenty of stuff. At first I thought personal trainers would just get in your face and scream at you, but GHF Personal Training was anything but that. He said, “You played like that after having surgery?!” I was so happy I could hardly stand it. Exactly four weeks and one day later, I was playing again! One of my teammates wanted to know why I stopped, so I told him about the knee surgery. I stayed free of serious injury until March 2018, a period of close to two years, until I suffered a torn meniscus playing basketball and had arthroscopic surgery.īased on the 20 months of training with Jeremy, I was very confident he would do a great job of getting me back to playing again. During all the time we've been working together, I haven't hurt myself one time when training on my own. The first thing I’ll mention is that Jeremy is an excellent teacher, which in my opinion goes way beyond being just a trainer. After several injuries, I knew I had to do something. My first serious sports injury occurred just 2 days before my 58th birthday. I'm 64 years old and still playing basketball with guys in their 20's! There is no doubt in my mind that would not be possible if I wasn't training with Jeremy. I started training with Jeremy in May 2016. I’ve experienced the results that personal training can give you and it’s life-enhancing. Without personal training I could not enjoy my hobby and would be stuck in a rut doing the same old things. I can pick up my heavy plants without fear of injury and move them around the yard without falling. Walking down the stairs after my first session was tough, but now I can take the stairs two steps at a time. My personal trainer Laura Lindahl challenged me to do things outside my comfort zone to increase my endurance and strength. But to my surprise, I didn’t lose weight but gained muscle giving me the strength I needed to care for my orchids. Originally, I joined personal training to lose weight thinking this was the best option for me. I decided I needed to be in better shape to take care of them without having to ask others to help me. Because I have 150 of them weighing between 25 and 50 pounds, my hobby can be quite physical. The Echo project is expected to be complete at the end of this month, August 2021.My hobby is gardening, my but passion is growing orchids. The Echo is not just an abstract, but as real as its source, only in another time and place.” It represents all of our thinking and of our actions and ‘why’ we even exist: To give you, our members, what you need to get the most out of your life. From our humble beginnings to a business recognized across the globe, it has been a continual echo across time. The lessons of a father learned over time. The words of a mother repeated over and over. Its guiding principles, its actions, its why, its people leads to the next echo. “Our life is a series of echoes, what we say, do and act upon leads to the next one. When Fabiano heard the proposal of Echo as the name, he was inspired to write the following: In addition, the facility’s acoustics have an echoing quality. The outdoor fitness pavilion’s name, Echo, is also significant, said Cirulli.įor one, Cirulli likened the space to an “echo” of the main campus, similar in shape. GHF worked with Rudy Fabiano on the project. Because the facility was short on space - despite being 80,000 square feet in size - the pavilion will sit on top of a 10,000-square-foot retention pond on campus. “They’ll have access to what would be a very expensive offering anywhere else,” said Cirulli.Īlthough the outdoor fitness pavilion is close to completion, it required out-of-the-box thinking to come to fruition. As a result, the pavilion is a great value-add for GHF members looking to participate in outdoor programming while retaining access to the many other amenities the fitness facility offers. It gives us the opportunity to add new things and experiment.”Īccording to Cirulli, outdoor fitness has bloomed in popularity, with people paying top-dollar for access to similar facilities in the area. “I wanted to be able to add more programming to the club, and this adds a really nice element to our center. “Obviously, what we learned this past year is there are a lot of people who like training in an outdoor-type environment,” said Joe Cirulli, the founder and CEO of Gainesville Health and Fitness. The 6,000-square-foot pavilion will be the largest outdoor training facility in the area, and will feature a roof, outdoor fitness equipment and programming such as boot camps and HIIT. Gainesville Health and Fitness (GHF) is nearing the grand opening of a new outdoor fitness pavilion, Echo, located at the brand’s main campus in Gainesville, Florida.
